It’s a fit for quirky indie and crisp pop but can also tackle epic film and games scores. It will work on anything from passionate period dramas to modern Scandi noir. We aimed to create an incredibly versatile string library for the dry stage.īy choosing the crisp and vibrant setting of AIR Studio One, a smaller, more controllable space than the opulent Lyndhurst Hall, we offer our fellow composers a string library with depth, detail, and focus all at once. I would love to send my midi file to Alex if he wants to work this up for the Friedlander Violin (I requested this in the announcement thread forever ago).Spitfire Studio Strings marks the first release of the vital all-new Spitfire Orchestra line. This is a trick I got from Spitfire that works really well with their instruments if you need a stereo sound: Double the instruments, transpose -2 and +2 semitones. **EDIT**Also, this is an example if you want a stereo version. Excerpt from Edward Scissorhands, 'Le Boutique.' by Danny Elfman Mutli-Mic = %80 Close, %100 Tree, %50 Outrigger This is out of the box sound, zero EQ-ing or effects added. I used 3 patches to make this: 2 Multi-mics to layer the longs in at the end and 1 legato to use the portamento slide in the middle. I didn't have time to work up something for the Viola and cello. Now, this is just the Violin so keep that in mind. and would suggest a quick visit to our website to listen to the audio examples there - both instruments were used to recreate a masterwork by JS Bach, and I think those mockups speak for did this just for you to show the "fast" possibilities of Spitfire's solo strings. I definitely don't agree that they cannot achieve a "classical" sound. I've read in a few places that these two instruments are best used to achieve a more "specialized" sound (viola da gamba/Game of Thrones, etc etc). I think it might require a deeper exploration into their features, and an understanding of what elements can be controlled. and would suggest a quick visit to our website to listen to the audio examples there - both instruments were used to recreate a masterwork by JS Bach, and I think those mockups speak for themselves!Ī final note- Blakus/Friedlander are both quite sculpt-able. There are a few controls that can bend the portamentos to your will (pun intended).Ī final note- Blakus/Friedlander are both quite sculpt-able. RE: the portamentos, constaneum and Darris, I will add this topic to my list for my tutorial videos. Kontakt's Time Machine 2 is amazing, but certainly not perfect! In my admittedly biased opinion, it sounds really great! If you slow the portamento audio down by too much, it will stretch - but there is a wide percentage of freedom with which to compress/stretch these samples.įriedlander portamentos have been improved with the 1.5 update (which is forthcoming) - but still, if you stretch the audio, you will hear artifacts. The Blakus Cello has "true" portamento - it has to be treated with care because even with "true" legato there's still a crossfade from one note to another.
